Orientation: Situation Awareness
Any high magnification vision system presents the challenge of the narrow field of view (FOV) versus the total viewable area - how operators orient themselves to view targets in context.
This challenge is particularly problematic at night, at long range.
The Vumii response: a unique technology that effortlessly maintains the user’s situational awareness, both for:
- orientation in the wider FOV
- navigation to discontinuous locations within the wider FOV
Vumii’s Sensorii software achieves situational awareness by capturing a static panoramic image of the entire pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) viewing field in daylight. At night, the technology displays the live view within the static panoramic image, dynamically synchronizing the two to allow the user to easily navigate the total viewing area.
To immediately reposition the live view, the operator can simply point and click anywhere in the panoramic image. And because the panoramic image and live image are dynamically synchronized, the user can follow a target along a road, fence line or building, the edge of a port or a border.
